So, about this feast . . .

I have been saying in some posts now that the centerpiece of our trip is the Festa di San Michele a Soglio di Orero, which seems a jawbreaker of a title. You’ve heard enough about meals, so I’ll spend today demystifying that title; you may find it more interesting than it seems.

Following the Valley

Today we said goodbye to our little vineyard and headed down the valley to Soglio, where the Festa di San Michele a Soglio di Orero will be held on Sunday–the centerpiece of our vacation.

Wash Day

Today started very early–about 1:00 last night, in fact. That’s when Judy, Lew, and Elaine arrived at Ronco delle Rose with John Lavezzi, newly flown from Barcelona after the discovery and return of his pilfered passport. And with that, our traveling group is complete.

About the Contrarian

I’ve enjoyed two marvelous careers: first as a teacher of English and theatre (and, occasionally, psychology); and second as executive director of the North Eastern Ohio Education Association (NEOEA).

But I’ve always had other interests: public policy, parliamentary procedure, union leadership, music, genealogy, and photography. Since retiring in 2017, I’ve focused on those interests.

As is perhaps obvious, I’m still figuring out what I want to be when I grow up.
